Hepatitis C
KARACHI:
An alarming WHO report indicates that Pakistan has the highest number of viral hepatitis infections in the world. The infections total 8.8 million, accounting for 44% of all new hepatitis C infections attributed to unsafe medical injections. From the situation and systems, it appears that the burden of this viral infection would increase in the days ahead. Sincere efforts are needed — especially in rural areas — to prevent, control and eliminate this viral infection.
