Brain drain

Brain drain

KARACHI:

Students and skilled individuals are vital assets for a country. These valuable assets help shape a country’s future. However, Pakistan faces a significant challenge: brain drain. A large number of educated and skilled individuals are opting to leave the country in pursuit of better prospects abroad.

Recent surveys indicate that around 75 per cent of students aim to seek education overseas. This trend stems from factors such as political instability, lawlessness, waning interest in education, economic hardships, limited opportunities, rising unemployment, and a dim outlook on the future. Even graduates with advanced degrees face uncertainty regarding job opportunities.

Our policymakers must address this pressing issue promptly. Despite Pakistan’s wealth of resources, both human and natural, there is a notable absence of effective strategies to harness them. Addressing this brain drain is essential to ensure Pakistan’s progress and development.
