Two militants killed, five injured in Kurram checkpost attack

PESHAWAR:
Two suspected militants were killed and five others injured in the early hours of Saturday, as security forces repulsed a militant attack carried out in Kurram Agency on the Pak-Afghan border.

Unidentified militants initiated the attack on the security forces check-post after which two militants were killed in retaliatory firing. Five other suspected militants were injured in the crossfire and were arrested and moved to an unidentified place for further interrogation, officials said.


Officials at Parachanar, headquarters of Kurram Agency, confirmed the clash between security forces and militants in border region.

Earlier, a bomb hidden in a bag ripped through a crowded bazaar in a mainly Shia area of northwestern tribal region Sunday, killing at least 23 people and wounding more than 30.
