NSC meets to discuss Kashmir

Meeting called to discuss situation in Kashmir after Indian government’s decision to change the IOK's special status

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has summoned a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) on Wednesday to discuss the situation in Kashmir after the Indian government’s decision to change the occupied territory’s constitutional status.

In the meeting, the top civil and military leadership will also examine the recommendations of the joint session of the parliament and the decisions taken by the corps commander conference chaired by the army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday.

The NSC meeting will be attended by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Defense Minister Pervez Khattak, Interior Minister Ijaz Shah, Kashmir Affairs Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman Gen Zubair Mehmood Hayat, the services chiefs and the directors general of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Operations.

According to sources, a federal cabinet meeting, which was scheduled for Wednesday (today) has been postponed, owing to the NSC meeting. The Prime Minister House sources said the federal cabinet meeting will now be held on Friday.
