World Toilet Organisation, SEED Ventures ink MoU

WTO will be holding the World Toilet Summit (WTS) in Pakistan in collaboration with SEED Ventures

World Toilet Organisation (WTO), based in Singapore, established to break the taboo around toilets and the sanitation crisis, and SEED Ventures, a leading social impact ecosystem, and sustainable finance solution development organisation signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

Under this MoU SEED Ventures and WTO will propagate conversations and programmes that support the vision that good sanitation. To initiate the relationship and as a first step to strengthing the ecosystem for sanitation and hygiene in Pakistan, WTO will be holding the World Toilet Summit (WTS) in Pakistan in collaboration with SEED Ventures.

Using the summit as a starting point, both organisations want to encourage the government and private sector partners to establish 100,000 toilets in the country in urban, peri-urban and rural areas.

WTO Founder Jack Sim shared: "We are pleased that SEED Ventures will host our next WTS for the first time in Pakistan this year."

He said that they hope to see improvement in Pakistan's sanitation condition and bring dignity, health and safety to its population.

SEED Ventures Founder and Director Faraz Khan commented: "Jack has broken the taboo around toilets. We look forward to building sustainable solutions to sanitation in the country."

SEED Ventures CEO and Director Shaista Ayesha said: "Open defecation and sanitation is a major issue in our country. We intend to work on two elements; community buy-in, and livelihood development in the sanitation industry."
