Capital police’s Kirpa police station team and Homicide unit Koral circle team has arrested an accused involved in a murder case, a police public relations officer said.

According to sources, on May 24, an individual named Habib Ur Rehman filed a complaint with the Kirpa police station, saying that while he and his sons, Umar and Sufyan, were en route for the Fajr prayer, three individuals, named Izzat Khan, Shams ul Haq, and an unidentified person, assaulted his son Umar with a dagger which resulted in injuries. The accused subsequently fled the scene of the crime.

He said that he shifted his son to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and died. Upon receiving the application, the Kirpa Police team registered FIR no. 145/23. Following this incident, a special investigation team was constituted. The police team utilised all available resources and used technical and scientific methods and arrested the main accused named Shams ul Haq while further investigation is underway.

DIG Operations Islamabad Syed Shehzad Nadeem Bukhari said that Islamabad capital police has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against violence.
