RAWALPINDI:

Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaqat Ali Chatha has ordered the removal of all kinds of encroachments from Nullah Leh to ensure a smooth flow of water during the upcoming monsoon season.

In this regard, he directed DG RDA to submit a certificate after the completion of their work stating that all the 15 drains falling into Nullah Leh have been cleared. Moreover, he asked them to get a certificate from the managing director of Rawalpindi Waste Management Company that all the drains have been cleaned by them and from the Municipal Corporation that the work of cleaning the graveyards has also been completed.

He said that the fear of drowning in deep water increases considerably during rainfall. In such a case, all the deputy commissioners should enforce Section 144 in concerned areas to avoid unforeseen circumstances.

He further said that the sides of Nullah Leh should be kept free from all encroachments and it should be ensured that garbage or building material is not dumped there again.
