ABBOTABAD:

In a heartbreaking incident on Wednesday, a 75-year-old woman lost her life in a dolly lift accident in the village of Mohar Kalan, situated within the jurisdiction of Bagnotar Police Station in Abbottabad.

According to sources, local authorities sprung into action following the tragic event and sealed the lift.

Reports indicate that the chair lift operator has been apprehended by the police. According to witnesses, the victim, identified as Sosan Jan, met with a fatal accident as she attempted to disembark from the lift, tragically falling into a deep gorge.

An official said a comprehensive investigation into the matter has been launched and the district administration has taken the decisive step of sealing off the dolly lift. Additionally, strict measures are being enforced against chair lift operators across the Hazara division.

On the other hand, a technical team has been dispatched to conduct a thorough inquiry aimed at uncovering the root causes of the accident. Their investigation will also assess whether there were any violations of the chair lift Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

On the same day in Abbottabad, the families of two murder victims, an uncle and nephew, who were tragically killed 10 months ago, have voiced concerns about their own safety. More than a dozen children are seeking justice for their father’s untimely demise, and their pleas for accountability have led them to knock on various doors.

During a press conference at the Havelian Press Club on Wednesday, the family members said they had even approached DIG police but to no avail.

They alleged that the lives of over a dozen innocent children of the two victims are also in danger due to ongoing harassment and threats from their rivals. The families implore authorities to expedite the investigation and ensure that justice is served.
