RAWALPINDI:

In a bid to promote tourism in Patriata, the cherished tourist haven of the newly created district of Murree, a mega project has been approved by the Punjab Tourism Department under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for 2023-24 with an estimated cost of Rs63.86 million.

The project aims to elevate the comfort and recreation prospects for tourists and families, with an emphasis on promoting camping, scouting and culinary diversity. Under this project, a diverse food court featuring both indigenous and contemporary cuisine will be built along with establishing arts and crafts shops, zip-lining, wall climbing and scenic walkways.

Patriata holds the distinction of being the first tourist stop along the route from Rawalpindi and Islamabad to the captivating Malika-e-Kohsar Murree. A modern lift has been recently upgraded and activated to enhance the overall experience of the incoming tourists.

Moreover, a newly constructed, ample parking area has been added to the site. To enhance the experience, recreational areas have been created alongside the pristine canals, fed by cold spring water flowing from the surrounding hills.

Tourists from the twin cities will now be able to enjoy a wide range of culinary delights during their stay in Patriata. This includes a selection of both traditional and contemporary dishes such as Saag Lassi, Chatti Lassi, Corn Bread and an array of indigenous homemade and modern foods available in the local market.

This project extends self-employment prospects to Patriata and its neighbouring regions, fostering economic opportunities. Moreover, it will give a chance to the local women to showcase and sell both handmade and machine-made items in the arts and crafts shops.
