JI raises concern on rising street crimes in city

JI president attributed surge in criminal activities to mismanagement and corruption

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer, Engineer Hafiz Naeem ur Rahman, has expressed high concern on alarming rise in the cases of street crimes in the city. He attributed the surge in criminal activities to mismanagement, corruption, and the presence of unscrupulous individuals within the police force.

He mentioned that city’s police force is busy in procol duties only and does not bother to catch the street criminals. Addressing the press on Thursday, Rahman emphasised that criminal elements freely operate in Karachi, leading to a significant loss of lives. The outgoing year witnessed 110 casualties due to violent crimes, with 817 reported bike snatchings and 4,396 other thefts in October alone.
