LAHORE:

The Registrar Office of the Lahore High Court (LHC) has raised objections to a plea filed by Muhammad Afaq advocate, questioning his standing as an aggrieved party.

The plea seeks a court directive to produce the records of Bushra Bibi’s nikah with former prime minister Imran Khan and the divorce details with her ex-husband, Khawar Maneka.

In the petition, Afaq raised several crucial points, including the verification process of the divorce by the issuing authority and the procedure followed in sending the divorce certificate. He sought clarification on whether the “Iddat” duration would begin from the date of divorce or when it was presented to the union council.

Afaq also questioned the possibility of a second marriage without a divorce certificate and the procedures followed by the Nikah Khawan during the marriage ceremony.

Additionally, he raised concerns about the details provided by Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband during a local television interview.

The petitioner urged the court to direct Maneka, the respondent, to produce his divorce certificate with Bushra Bibi. Mufti Saeed, the Nikah Khawan, was also named as a respondent, with a request to submit the nikahnama of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

Furthermore, the Chairman of the Election Commission of Pakistan was asked to provide the family details of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

The civil secretariat was directed to produce the divorce certificate and explain the mechanisms involved in the divorce.

The anchor-person, who interviewed Khawar Maneka, where he disclosed some alleged immoral and controversial activities, was also summoned as a respondent in the plea.
