Robbers claim another life in Karachi

60-year-old succumbs to injuries sustained while resisting a robbery attempt near Gulshan-e-Maymar

Waseemur Rehman, a 60-year-old resident, breathed his last on Monday morning at a private hospital situated on Stadium Road in Karachi. His demise followed a six-day battle for life after a harrowing encounter with bandits on Chand Raat near Gulshan-e-Maymar.

Accompanied by his wife, Waseem was returning home to Gulshan-e-Maymar Sector Y-3 late on Chand Raat after completing Eid shopping. In a horrifying turn of events, their vehicle was intercepted by bandits in an area falling under the jurisdiction of Site Superhighway Industrial Area Police Station.

Refusing to yield, Waseem continued driving, prompting the assailants to open fire. Tragically, he sustained a severe gunshot wound to his back.

With the aid of his wife, Waseem was swiftly rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital before being transferred to a private hospital close to the stadium. Despite receiving intensive care for six days, he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Monday.

Funeral prayers will be held after Asr at Jamia Masjid Ammar bin Yasir, located in Gulshan-e-Maymar Sector Y-3, where he will be laid to rest in a local graveyard.

With this latest fatality, the tally of lives lost to bandit gunfire in the metropolis has reached 62 this year alone.
