British actor Joe Alwyn and pop star Taylor Swift dated for six years until early 2023. They started dating in 2016, and their breakup was confirmed in April 2023.

Alwyn preferred to keep his relationship with Swift private. According to a source who spoke to People magazine,"He wanted the romance to be his own personal story."

In her latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department," Swift sings about feeling trapped and lonely in a failing romance, which seems to reflect her breakup with Alwyn.

In the song “So Long London”, Taylor sings, "I stopped trying to make him laugh / Stopped trying to drill the safe,"

Also adding the lines, "And I'm pissed off you let me give you all that youth for free."

In the song "Fresh Out the Slammer," the pop star also expresses her feelings of isolation: "Another summer taking cover / Rolling thunder, he don't understand me / Splintered back in winter / Silent dinner, bitter he was with her in dreams."

During their time together, Alwyn and Swift kept their relationship private, often deflecting engagement rumours.

In an interview in April 2022, Alwyn stated, "If I had a pound for every time I think I've been told I've been engaged, then I'd have a lot of pound coins." He added, "I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn't say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn't say."

Alwyn first publicly appeared with Swift in May 2017, and fans speculate that they met at the 2016 Met Gala.

After their breakup, Swift began a new relationship with Travis Kelce. She's currently on a break from her record-breaking Eras Tour, having recently released her latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department." Meanwhile, Alwyn is preparing for the release of his latest film, "Kinds of Kindness."
