Prince William and Kate Middleton have upheld a family tradition by releasing a new portrait of Prince Louis on his 6th birthday.

The photos release follows speculation that the royal family might've broken with tradition due to recent controversies involving photoshopped images.

The image, captured by Kate at Windsor, showcases the young royal and offers a message of thanks from his parents to well-wishers.

This birthday comes during a particularly sensitive time for the family. Kate's recent revelation of her cancer diagnosis has prompted a focus on privacy and explaining the situation to their young children.  William's recent public engagements, including a hint about Louis' love of cricket, suggest a return to routine even while supporting his wife through treatment.

The release of Louis' photo follows a controversial Mother's Day portrait where Kate admitted to editing the image. This incident highlights the pressures faced by the royal family, even as they attempt to maintain traditions and celebrate milestones.

Upcoming events for the family include their 13th wedding anniversary and the birthdays of Princess Charlotte and Prince George.
