ISLAMABAD:

The federal government on Friday objected to a legal point regarding amendment to the Punjab Jail Rules during the hearing of a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for declaring a ban on political talks by prisoners lodged in the Adiala Jail.

IHC Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan heard the plea filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat. Lawyer Zainab Janjua told the court that she would assist the court on this point at the next hearing.

Islamabad Advocate General Ayaz Shaukat took argued that the application regarding the amendment to the Punjab Jail Rules was the jurisdiction of the Lahore High Court. Janjua also said that there had been objections regarding the admissibility of the plea. The hearing was put off till May 10.
