LHC gives ex-Islamabad IG final chance

Court maintained that accountability cannot be evaded even if has been replaced

LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court has issued a final warning to former Islamabad inspector general Dr Akbar Nasir Khan to appear personally in a contempt of court case regarding the arrest of PTI President Parvez Elahi against court’s directives.

The court emphasised that Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan must present himself before the court at the next hearing.

"The court's patience should not be tested any longer," Justice Sultan Tanveer asserted. He asked whether the former IG considered himself above judicial authority.

The court maintained that accountability cannot be evaded even if has been replaced. The hearing was adjourned indefinitely.
