Robert Downey Jr has downplayed Chris Hemsworth’s recent assessment of his role as Thor.

In a new interview, Robert Downey Jr. defended Chris Hemsworth's performance, praising the complexity he brought to the character.

Chris Hemsworth, who recently starred in a cover story for Vanity Fair, admitted feeling frustrated with Thor at times.

He said, "Sometimes I felt like a security guard for the team... I would read everyone else's lines, and go, 'Oh, they got way cooler stuff. They're having more fun. What's my character doing?'

Robert Downey Jr., however, believes Hemsworth brought a unique depth to Thor. He told Vanity Fair, "Hemsworth is, in my opinion, the most complex psyche out of all us Avengers. He's got wit and gravitas, but also such restraint, fire and gentleness." He also called Hemsworth's work in "Thor: Ragnarok," "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame" a "formidable hat trick."

Hemsworth was also of the view that his focus on improvisation and wackiness during the shooting for Thor: Love and Thunder had resulted in the Australian actor feeling like a “parody of himself.”

This comes amidst Hemsworth promoting his new film "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga." In the interview, Hemsworth also opened up about turning 40 and his future career plans.
