KARACHI:

Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) Karachi Liaison Committee organised a ceremony for Yasmeen Yas’s Poetry collection Mary Bey Khabar at Auditorium II.

Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui presided over the ceremony. Anwar Shuoor and Taj Haider were the chief guests. Farasat Rizvi, Dr Rukhsana Saba, Humaira Rahat, Shakeel Khan, Dr. Salman Sarwat, and Imran Shamshad Narmi shared their insights during the event.

Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui praised Yasmeen Yas's passion and emphasized the importance of dedication and specialized education in literature and poetry.

Renowned poet Anwar Shuoor remarked that despite Yasmeen Yas's origins in Mansehra, her ability to express emotions in Urdu was remarkable.

Political leader Taj Haider lauded Yasmeen Yas as a revolutionary poet of the modern era, challenging the perception of women as mere adornments. He expressed his belief that separation can sometimes be preferable to reunion.

Dr Rukhsana noted that Yasmeen Yas's poetry is entwined with the theme of love. Farasat Rizvi said, “we often confine the term 'love' solely to the emotional bond shared between a man and a woman. However, love encompasses various forms, each perceived uniquely by individual poets.”

Yasmeen Yas recited verses from her book for the audience, expressing her gratitude for their support.
