High-level committee made to formulate strategies for development of border areas

ISLAMABAD:

Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, chaired a meeting on Saturday aimed at addressing the challenges confronting the country’s border areas.

The meeting, held under the initiative of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, focused on devising innovative solutions and proactive measures to promote socio-economic prosperity in these regions.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Commerce, the high-level committee formed for this purpose is committed to formulating comprehensive strategies for the holistic development of border areas.

During the meeting, various issues were discussed, including tariff rationalisation and employment creation, demonstrating the committee’s dedication to tackling the challenges faced by communities residing along the borders. Kamal highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing these challenges and reiterated the government’s commitment to improving the socio-economic conditions of border areas.

The committee aims to present its recommendations to the prime minister within 10 days, indicating a promising beginning to concerted efforts for socio-economic development in the region.
