The Sun has reported that Will Ferrell is set to be announced as an investor in Championship club Leeds United which is currently owned by 49ers Enterprises.

Ferrell will join fellow actor Russel Crowe who already has a stake at Leeds and had almost considered buying the club earlier in 2015.

This follows the success of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney with Wrexham in the English football scene.

Will Ferrell has been occasionally spotted at Wrexham alongside Hollywood pals Reynolds and McElhenney, and has reportedly fallen in love with English football so investing in a club is a natural transition.

As Ferrell is already a part-owner of Major League Soccer franchise Los Angeles FC, this investment doesn’t come as a surprise and makes him already familiar to the football business  and he would be hoping he brings the same fate to Leeds FC as his Hollywood buddies bought to Wrexham.

Leeds are set to play the championship playoffs after missing out on automatic promotion and they must go through the play-offs to get back to the Premier League.
