Macklemore has announced that he will donate the proceeds from his newly-released song "Hind's Hall” to the UN’s relief agency in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

Rapper Macklemore’s new song titled "Hind's Hall" was released in support of ongoing pro-Palestine protests in college campuses across the US.

The song's title references an incident at Columbia University in April, where a group occupied Hamilton Hall and renamed it "Hind's Hall" after Hind Rajab, a Palestinian girl killed by Israeli forces earlier this year.

Macklemore has pledged to donate all proceeds from the song to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The song also criticises the silence of the music industry on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and expresses solidarity with protestors. Lyrics reference divestment from Israel, white supremacy, and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

“What happened to the artist? What do you got to say?
If I was on a label, you could drop me today
I'd be fine with it 'cause the heart fed my page
I want a ceasefire, f*ck a response from Drake (Woo)”

"Hind's Hall" is not Macklemore's first foray into activism regarding the conflict. He has been a vocal supporter of the Palestinian people.

He previously also spoke at a pro-Palestine rally in Washington D.C. and shared a statement advocating for a ceasefire.

The song's latest release comes amidst Israel’s ongoing war on besieged Gaza.

Israel has killed more than 34,000 Palestinians and wounded at least 78,100 others since the October 7,2023 Hamas attack that killed 1,200 Israelis.
