Katy Perry has cleared the air regarding her Met Gala attendance with an instagram post, while also teasing new music with a studio pic
Pop star Katy Perry and her partner, actor Orlando Bloom, were noticeably absent from the 2024 Met Gala.
Perry has a history of show-stopping Met Gala looks that have always taken the internet by storm with appearances in 2009, 2010, 2016, and 2019.
But this year her being absent to the event has not stopped her from going viral for it.
An AI-generated photo depicting Perry walking the Met Gala red carpet has circulated widely on social media with many actually falling for it and believing it to be from the actual event.
The viral AI-generated images depicted Perry in a flowing floral gown, adhering to the Met Gala's 2024 dress code, "The Garden of Time."
This theme was inspired by J.G. Ballard's 1962 short story of the same name and linked to the Costume Institute's exhibition, "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion."
Within a few hours however Perry addressed rumors of her Met Gala attendance on social media.
She posted on Instagram clarifying that she was not present at the event, and blamed AI for the whole debacle.
Perry’s post includes screenshots of two AI-generated images depicting her in a floral gown on the Met Gala red carpet.
She also added text message exchange with her mother where she complimented her look, which showed that even her own mother wasn’t safe from the manipulation of AI.
