Dutch Ambassador to Pakistan Henny Fokel de Vries has stressed that the formation of partnerships between Dutch and Pakistani companies will strengthen the local livestock sector on modern lines.
“Over 50 Dutch companies are already operating in Pakistan, which include dairy and agriculture-related firms, and both countries have been actively engaged in what we call a historic cooperation in these two important sectors of the economy,” the ambassador remarked at an event on Tuesday.
The event marked the establishment of a partnership between Cloud Agri Pakistan, Australian livestock company Nasna and Denkavit Nederland to provide feed solutions for young animals.
Industry experts pointed out that despite being the fourth largest milk producer in the world and having major sub-sectors of agriculture, along with livestock, contributing over 60% of value-added agriculture and 11.7% of the GDP, the dairy sector of Pakistan faces persistent challenges that hinder its optimal potential.
With a population of 240 million looking to meet their protein and dairy needs, Pakistan’s dairy and beef industry is largely underperforming, which requires huge efforts for making improvements.
Cloud Agri Pakistan CEO and Cloud Agri Group Global Business Director Rana Shaukat Hussain said by joining forces with Nasna and Denkavit, “we are not only facilitating the introduction of superior livestock and nutrition solutions but also fostering a platform for knowledge exchange and the adoption of international best practices for Pakistan’s dairy and beef farmers.
The collaboration is poised to bring unprecedented benefits to the dairy and beef sector. Nasna will serve as the exclusive provider of high-quality Australian dairy and beef animals, while Denkavit will supply state-of-the-art calf-rearing solutions to meet the diverse needs of Pakistani livestock farmers. This strategic alignment is set to empower local farmers and stakeholders with the tools and knowledge necessary to enhance production, improve animal health and drive overall industry advancement.
