Understanding your body is the key to looking good and a trait found amongst all impeccably dressed fashionistas. While people shy away from talking about their bodies, these brave souls explain how they work their anatomies to their advantage

How would you describe your body type?

I have an hourglass figure. I have always been size small but tend to easily put on weight in the lower half if I don’t look after myself.

Has your body type changed over the last five years?

I wouldn’t say so but in the past five years if something has changed, it’s definitely that I have come to realise how important it is to have a healthy body with more strength, being size small, super lean and slim isn’t enough. It’s been a few years now that I have been more into strength training and eating healthy which has led to a stronger and more toned body which is all that I want to maintain now.

How has your style changed over the years?

I love to experiment with different styles and different colours. I don’t shy away from colours, unusual cuts and over the years it’s just gotten better. I can try ongoing trends if it attracts me and include it in my personal style if it compliments my body but I always like to have my own uniqueness. I don’t like playing standards.

How do you dress your body according to your body type?

To be honest I wear everything! I would say more than my body type, it all depends on my mood and the occasion but I really enjoy flares, so skirts and dresses are definitely my thing! They are classically feminine and flattering, so easy to style and super comfortable!

In your opinion, what’s your most troublesome area?

Well it has to be my lower body where I tend to put on weight quickly but working out and maintaining that calorie deficit has always helped me keep things under control.

In your opinion what’s the biggest mistake one can make while dressing up?

I firmly believe dress according to your comfort and body type. One should wear things that complement their body and not follow every trend blindly. Also, I have seen people forming an opinion about a colour or a style without even trying. You can never know until you try. So be experimental. Find your style. Some of the styles which I thought wouldn’t suit me in the past are now my favourite every day staples. Lastly, don’t overdo it.

Which silhouettes suit your body the most?

Hourglass body is considered to be the ideal so luckily all kinds of silhouettes complement my body. I can carry a bodycon dress as beautifully as a flared dress. I really enjoy wearing high-waisted pants, be it skinny, slouchy or flared.

What is that one piece of clothing that you shy away from wearing?

I don’t think there is any piece of clothing that I shy away from but I don’t get along too well with leather minus leather jackets.
