Comedian Jack Whitehall has found himself the subject of a good-natured royal ribbing.

Prince William, heir to the British throne, jokingly described Whitehall's jokes as "dad-like" during a surprise visit to a West Midlands school.

The playful jab came when a group of students asked the Prince for a "dad joke."  William quipped that he was "channelling" the comedian, known for his self-deprecating style of humour.

In a lighthearted video, Whitehall reacted to the Prince's comments. His initial flattery turned to mock offence after hearing William's classic "interrupting cow" joke. Whitehall jokingly lamented, "There goes my knighthood," before amusingly scribbling the joke down for potential future use.

Prince William's school visit was prompted by a student's request to learn about their mental health campaign.

During the trip, the Prince joined children from St Michael's Church of England School in Sandwell for the "dad joke" segment of their radio show.

Whitehall, who recently became a father, is known for his stand-up comedy, starring roles in sitcoms like "Bad Education," and his travel show with his father, Michael.
